I don't believe we die alone, everyone we've ever met who were of any importance will be there. When you die you will never be alone again. You just have to sit out this ride, Life.
It isn't usually something done together, but if you want, you can. Just gotta find the right person that you want to journey with towards that end. I dunno why but your writing made me think of that one scene in Inception...where both characters are laying down on the train tracks.
